Cleaning Website Web Design SEO Localisation Self-Service Quoting Norwegian Market Case Study

The Challenge

This project was about more than just building a website. The client needed a bespoke cleaning website and SEO strategy in Norway, which meant stepping into a new cultural and digital environment. Language was one of the biggest hurdles. Writing content in English first wasn’t enough, because direct translations didn’t capture the right tone or nuance. We had to adapt the copy so it read naturally for a Norwegian audience.

SEO presented another difficulty. Unlike larger markets such as the UK, Norway has fewer opportunities for quality backlinks. That required deeper research, outreach to local sites, and in some cases, producing Norwegian-language content as part of a wider content strategy ourselves.

Design was equally important. Norway has its own visual style in web design — clean layouts, minimalist typography, and functional simplicity with subtle colour palettes. To make the website feel truly Norwegian, not like an English site dressed up in translation, we had to study local websites, identify style cues, and weave those principles into our design process.

On top of that, user expectations also shaped the challenge. Norwegian customers value transparency and efficiency, so the site needed straightforward navigation and self-service tools like instant quotes. Managing all this remotely also added complexity, requiring careful communication across time zones and languages.

Our Solution

We approached the project with localisation in mind at every stage. Using our DBETA Bones 7.0 framework together with Relume and Figma, we created wireframes that reflected Norwegian design preferences right from the start. We then worked with native translators to adapt both the frontend and backend content, ensuring the messaging was culturally accurate and natural.

For SEO, we collaborated closely with the client to develop locally relevant blogs and secured backlinks from Norwegian media outlets. While the market had fewer opportunities, focusing on quality links gave the site a solid foundation for long-term growth.

We also built an automatic quote calculator, allowing customers to instantly see project costs online. This transparency matched local expectations and made the site more user-friendly. To overcome distance, we kept communication streamlined, using AI-assisted tools and regular check-ins to avoid misunderstandings.

The Results

The result was a fully localised Norwegian cleaning website that feels authentic to its market. The design reflects local style conventions with clean, functional layouts and cultural familiarity.

The self-service quoting tool gave customers confidence and convenience, while the SEO strategy started delivering results quickly, with 19 referring domains and 174 organic keywords now ranking on Google.
